THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED ON 5/28/09 DESIGNATED BY ITEMS IN BOLD
Welcome to those seeking world fame and glory! Smash Season is a little experiment (with room to grow) in Smash. We hope this can be a recurring event with strong participation! The first Smash Season is only going to be 4-6 weeks long, depending on the number of participants. Of course, if demand is high, we can extend the season for further weeks as desired. The basic rules and deets are below:
Smash Season details:
-Brawls take place on Saturday late mornings or early afternoons. (subject to change if needed or desired)
-Matches will most likely be 1v1, stock 4 life, random levels, items set to "low". This is all set to an honor system. You are asked to be honest in your settings. I know some people prefer no items, or think that levels should only be final destination (as per the current accepted Smash tournament rules), but I want this to be a little bit different than your usual tournament, which can sometimes become a little more dull than adventurous. Just as real sports teams play on different fields and venues, so will we. After all, this is not a tournament, but rather a season.
-At the end of the season, the top players will "lay the Smash down" on each other in a tournament style event. Details will be forthcoming.
Scoring is as follows (subject to change):
-Players receive 1 point for every kill they make during their match. Additionally, the winner of the match gets 2 bonus points, and the loser gets 1 additional point. Theoretically, you can max out at 6 points per round for a win and 4 points for a loss.
-Players will be responsible for posting their earned points in the designated comments section on this site each week to have them tallied.
-The few lowest scoring players for the week will be given a chance to "make up" points by participating in a 2 minute brawl, where each person can earn 1 point for each kill made in the 2 minute time. If there are more than 4 people tied for lowest scores in a week, the tie-breaker will be determined by overall lowest points for the season among those tied. No negative points will be earned. It is only a chance to score extra points back and you will not have points taken away.
-In the event of a player not showing, the opponent will receive 6 points for the win, and the non-present player will receive 0 points. If you anticipate not being able to show, please let it be known in advance so possible rescheduling can take place.
We will of course need to have a master list of who will be playing (please sign up in the comments section if interested!) along with required Smash codes to exchange so we can arrange matches. I encourage each of you to add every player to your Friends List. In your submission, please include the following:
-Screen name (that you use during your match)
-Name of your console (that will show when searching for matches. If using someone else's console, put their console name. Ex: my wife plays under the name Fish, but the console name will be Punk (or Fishpunk, I cannot remember) when searching for games.
-Smash Friend Code for console played on.
I also encourage you, if you think it necessary, to designate one of your taunts to "BRB" in case you need to step away for a moment. Protocol is that when a player uses the "BRB" taunt, opponents will cease attacking. When the player is back for action, a different taunt is given, as if to say "Bring it on!" Then the smashing resumes. Please do not abuse the BRB taunt and use it for no reason. Also, use it at your own discretion, as you will not be compensated for "environment kills".
Further, I plan on using this site to post videos of games we play (probably just when you play me, since I cannot figure a way to post the video for games I don't participate in. But hey, makes it more exciting when you play me!). Also, I may select a participant each week to do like a fun player spotlight, just to learn more about our players. Of course, the master point list will be updated on this site, and any other required communication will be made through this site, so please make sure to check back often, and you may want to consider "following" this blog to make sure you get updates when they are made.
I encourage all participants to make their suggestions as to the rules and settings. If the majority of the participants want something changed, it could be done. Or if there is just one really good idea someone has, we could possibly implement it. This is just the first Smash Season, so we obviously may make some changes over time. Thanks for reading through this post, and I hope to see you sign up in the comments section!

I would like to clarify that xhad's console name would appear as xhad, not as tree.
